Nehemiah 5:1-13


Nehemiah successfully navigated external opposition to the rebuilding of the wall around Jerusalem. But in chapter 5 he encounters turmoil within the ranks that more than external issues, threaten to bring the work to a halt.  


The focus of this week’s discussion is navigating disagreements among brothers and sisters in church, family and home.

  1. What was the problem Nehemiah faced?

    How did he handle it?

    How is it possible to be angry but not sin?

    Nehemiah went directly to the source of the problem. 

    In Matthew 18 Jesus said “ “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother” Unfortunately, few of us follow this practice.” Have you done that? What was the outcome?

    Steve said that part of the solution to disagreements is to take responsibility for your part of the problem. Is that difficult for you to do? If so, Why?

    Is there someone you are at odds with? How will you work to resolve the matter?
