Position: Children’s director

Reports to: Pastor Steve Hopkins

We offer childcare for infants ages birth – 2 years, classroom instruction for children ages 3 – 5 years, and Kid’s Church ages K-5th grade. Currently, TRF has three-weekend services but only one (9:00 am Sunday morning) that offers Children’s Ministry. We would like to expand our Children’s Ministry to include both Sunday services, midweek programming, and various other activities.

Position Objective

To provide leadership and direction for the Children’s Ministry, with a fully operating, safe, and effective ministry. To recruit, train, and develop a thriving volunteer base, communicate effectively with families of children, and partner with them in their children’s spiritual growth. Qualified candidates must have a desire to nurture children.  They must serve not only as a Director but as a shepherd to the people that serve in the Children’s Ministry. The annual pay is from $35k-$40k contingent on education and experience.
Qualifications and Abilities

1. A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and lives in accordance with Biblical practices.

2. A sense of calling to children’s ministry.

3. Ability to work with children, as well as plan, organize, lead, and guide projects related to children’s ministry.

4. Ability to work cooperatively with others as a team player with a positive attitude.

5. A self-motivated leader, possessing relational skills with kids, parents, and staff.
6. The ability to work with families and volunteers in the event of conflict and/or individual special needs.

7. Experience in developing and implementing the Children’s Ministry curriculum.

8. Competency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, Publisher) and the capacity to learn new software (PhotoShop, Planning Center, KidCheck, etc.).

9. Must have current Red Cross or equivalent CPR training for infants and children.
10. Minimum 2 years experience and Associate’s Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
11. Must pass a state and federal background check.


1. Supports Table Rock Fellowship’s core beliefs and Statement of Faith.

2. Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Children’s Ministry. Responsible for the oversight and leadership of the Children’s Ministry that includes:
     Children’s Sunday Church Services
     Mid-week programming
     Special Events
     Summer Programs
3. Maintain children’s ministry volunteer schedule using Planning Center, sending out reminders, announcements, etc.

4. Work cooperatively with all staff and volunteers.

5. Provide a warm, safe, friendly, and loving environment for children and families.
6. Organize, set-up, and stock classrooms with necessary supplies.
7. Purchase supplies as needed and keep the Children’s Ministry resource closets in order.
8. Understand and work with the computer programs for uploading weekly teachings
9. Coordinate sanitation and safety protocols.
10. Regular teacher evaluation and support.
11. Address issues or emergencies that arise.
12. Teach classes as needed.

13. Attend weekly staff meetings.

14. Meet regularly with supervisor to discuss ministry strategy and effectiveness.

15. Communicate consistently and regularly with parents.

16. Keep weekly attendance.

17. Submit bulletin announcements regarding the Children’s Ministry and/or events at the proper time.
18. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
19. Submit yearly budget.
